Gated Helical Computed Tomography (GHCT)
In recent years, computed tomography (CT) systems have gotten faster and faster, and at the same time, have achieved greater image quality. The heart, however, because of its constant movement, remained beyond the imaging scope of even the latest technology. Fortunately, Dr. Christopher Woodhouse, and others realized that if they could correlate the spatial imaging data from CT with the temporal data attained from an electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) it would allow them to utilize image data acquired from only the resting phase of the heart. This phase, end-diastole, is relatively motion-free. The resultant images could then be analyzed for calcification of the coronary arteries, providing the patient with a simple, non-invasive answer to the question of "Do I have silent heart disease?" The LDX is a blood analysis station which, with a simple finger-stick sample, is able to perform a number of different tests. The primary test offered by HeartScore is the lipid profile, which reflects high density lipoprotein (HDL), total cholesterol, and triglycerides. Low density and very low density lipoproteins(LDL/VLDL) are estimated by calculation. The results are available in about 5 minutes. The formal name for a blood pressure cuff, our sphygmomanometer is automated to minimize the potential for human error. | ||||
