The practice of medicine is constantly evolving due to the growth of scientific knowledge.  No longer is ‘bleeding’ a recommended treatment, no longer are leeches commonly used, and no longer must every child’s tonsils be removed.  We have come a long way, yet it is also a certainty that we do not know everything.  In fact, even the most accepted medical views of the day are under constant scrutiny.  The views represented in this booklet are a paraphrase of current thinking about heart disease, yet they are not all-inclusive nor are they meant to replace in any way the counsel of a personal physician.
